Pretty good.....I like it. One star off because I think maybe it's a tad overpriced, but I'm comparing it to the Family Medical Guide I bought at the same time & feel that was more bang for the buck. I do like this book though. Not really sure the surgery section is really something I would use. If I were having surgery, I could look up info on line. I bought this to help track symptoms and illnesses that hopefully I can diagnose & cure at home with home remedies. This fits the bill. I don't think it's completely exhaustive, but I imagine to cover everything you would have to have a whole set of encyclopedia sized books, which would just make it really hard to wade through and find what you are looking for. I think this combined with the info in Family Medical Guide will arm me to handle just about anything that can be taken care of at home.

Got this for my 68-year-old mom who loves to read medical books, who doesn't use the Internet. She was very pleased with this as an additional resource to her other more technical medical book. This one uses more layman's terms which she likes.

This is a very handy reference book to own. It is very informative and comprehensive for anyone needing a quick unofficial diagnosis for a medical issue/problem/condition. It also prescribes recommended treatments for the condition. I have already used it several times instead of running to the doctor, thereby saving a lot of time and money.

I've been buying this book for the last 5 years or so. This book covers just about every medical problem, diagnosis and surgery and explains everything in plain layman's terminology. Granted, you can't just go by the info in this book, you need confirmation of your issues directly from your doctor but at least by looking up and reading about your symptoms etc then go see your doctor you can be more informed.
